Welcome

March 8, 2018

The word hyped seems like a gross understatement; as words often fail to describe emotion. Today is a big day, in so many ways!

The obvious, this is a new website and our first blog. Lacey and I are excited to open the doors and share with you the on going ebb and flow what of what we see as the second chapter in our life story.

Chapter one as you know involved a great deal of sport, fun, travel, community and inspiration. This is who we are, as we evolve much of what we have experienced will be influence the next chapter. Today our priority is to break down barriers, redefine the rehabilitation process for those living with life altering injury, create access to sport and community and to partner with agencies who also a driven to create a positive impact in the world.

Today is also symbolic as March 8th marks the 14-year anniversary to when Lacey came into my world as a friend, giving up many of her goals to support me in my time of need. As you know a great deal has happened since then, we have two kids and live in a great community, have been blessed with opportunities in life and through sport that still seem surreal today. A few highlights; representing Team Canada in both the Paralympic Games in Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014, that big old backflip that landed me on the Ellen Degeneres show and working closely as a mentor with the High Fives Foundation just to name a few.

If you are a close friend then you will also know that we do not run from the shadow either, there have been many dark days that accompany the reality of living with a life altering injury. We look back with mixed emotions on the day that shifted the course of my life, as well the lives of those who we considered family and friend. At the end of the day we feel humbled to live in a great community, to have many great friends to share and grow with and to be able to use sport as an outlet to inspire others to reach beyond their personal perception of what is possible.

“Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to the youth in language they understand. Sport can create hope, where once there was only despair.”
